<div align="left">On Thursday evening, December 17th, the Michigan Arson Prevention Committee (MAPC) will host a fund raising gala from 6-9 p.m. at Opus One, 565 East Larned, Detroit.&nbsp; A silent auction, with a sports theme, is part of the event.&nbsp; I am writing to request a donation of sports memorabilia, goods or services or monetary donations to raise funds to support our arson initiative "Wayne Arson Reduction" (WAR).</div>
<div align="left">&nbsp;</div>
<div align="left">Tickets for the event will be sold in the amount of $25.00 and attendees will be eligible to win a 42" flat screen television, donated from a local business.&nbsp; A number of public officials and community leaders will be in attendance to show united support for this initiative.</div>
<div align="left">&nbsp;</div>
<div align="left">Detroit currently ranks first in the nation for suspicious property fires.&nbsp; Detroit also has the highest foreclosure rate among the nation's largest metropolitan areas.&nbsp; An unemployment rate exceeding 15%, a depressed economy, and the above fuel the need for additional resources fighting arson.&nbsp; Current demand for investigations and prosecutions of arsonists exceeds the capacity.&nbsp; Funding cuts in government agencies compounds this need.</div>

<div align="left">A successful event of this nature will help reinforce the community commitment to this problem and demonstrate a united effort of the public and private persons interested in the control and suppression of arson in Wayne County.</div>

<div align="left">The WAR initiative will provide funding to add staffing to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office.&nbsp; In addition to space, tethers, and court reporters, the initiative will a full time Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, a Full Time law enforcement officer, and a full time fire investigator dedicated to prosecuting arsonists.&nbsp; Our goal is to raise $1,000,000.&nbsp; We cannot fund this initiative without the support of organizations such as yours.</div>
<div align="left">&nbsp;</div>
<div align="left">Any donations would be very much appreciated.&nbsp; Thank you for your support of this initiative on behalf of the MAPC and the residents of Detroit and Wayne County.&nbsp; Proper acknowledgment of your name/organization will be identified on the item and prominently displayed during the course of the event and on the MAPC website unless otherwise requested.</div>
